GEHA Dental Insurance Coverage Availability & Fees
GEHA provides dental coverage for federal employees and retirees to lower the amount their policy holders need to pay out-of-pocket for the services necessary to maintain a healthy smile. Their coverage works a bit differently than a traditional PPO plan because their covered treatments are separated into 4 classifications:
- Class A: 100% in-network and out-of-network coverage for preventive care.
- Class B: 55% to 80% coverage for minor restorative care, like fillings and extractions.
- Class C: 35% to 50% coverage for major restorative treatments, like root canals and dental prosthetics.
- Class D: 70% coverage for orthodontics.
Like a traditional PPO plan, you will have a yearly deductible that will need to be paid before accessing your annual limit, which can range from $2,500 to unlimited depending on your specific policy. At the end of the year, your benefits will expire. If you don’t use them before the end of the calendar year, you’ll lose what you’ve paid into because they don’t carry over for accumulation, and you aren’t reimbursed for any unused funds.
We know dental insurance is a confusing topic, which is why we are here to help. You can get the semi-annual cleanings and checkups you need without worrying about a large bill. This helps keep your teeth and gums healthy to lessen the likeliness for needing a costly treatment throughout the year, like a root canal. As a result, you’ll lower your overall oral health expenses; however, even with the best prevention, a problem can occur. It doesn’t need to be left untreated because you worry about a large bill. We will help you utilize your coverage to lower the amount you need to pay out-of-pocket.
